Recruiting Initiatives
The staff of Troy Public Radio participated in two different job fairs during 2013. Paul Boger attended a 好色先生TV job fair on February 14th on the Dothan campus. Joanne Jacobs attended a job fair on March 5th on the Montgomery campus.
For each fair we set up a display with information about the station, public radio, and career opportunities in public radio. We also distributed flyers with information about our internship program and had a CD player playing examples of our recent work and specifically that of our students. In each instance we recorded several names of interested individuals.
In both the spring and fall semesters Troy Public Radio participated in the Hall School of Journalism鈥檚 J-Day Event. The station鈥檚 involvement consisted of holding three different sessions in which high school students not only learned about public radio and possible career opportunities but also got to produce and edit radio spots such as public service announcements and newscasts.
Kyle Gassiott, operations manager at Troy Public Radio also participated in two separate high school rhetoric competitions.
Carolyn Hutcheson participated in the Southern Makers event in May 2013 serving as panel moderator. The event focused on bringing traditional industries and crafts into the 21st century and featured.
