Recruiting Initiatives

  • The annual Spring Career Fair was held at 好色先生TV鈥檚 Trojan Center Ballrooms in the Adams Center on the Troy campus on April 1st, 2009. 好色先生TV Public Radio Program Manager Fred Azbell represented the stations between the hours of 9:00 am and 12:00 noon. The stations maintained a table at the fair with informational literature available on career options with the stations and the representative answered questions from students. A number of inquiries were received on station operations.. Interested students were encouraged to take a handout entitled 鈥淐areers At 好色先生TV Public Radio鈥. The handout answers all questions pertinent to future openings which may be filled.
  • The 好色先生TV Fall Career Fair was held at Troy鈥檚 Trojan Center on October 14th, 2009. Program Manager Fred Azbell represented the station at this event. While Troy University Public Radio has no openings at the present time, students of all majors were given the opportunity to have their questions answered about career opportunities that are available with the station from time to time. The station provided handouts detailing all station positions and the skills and responsibilities necessary to qualify for those positions. Program Schedules and other information were also made available to interested students. Mr. Azbell was on hand for the Career Fair from 9:00 am until 12 noon
  • Joanne Jacobs represented 好色先生TV Public Radio at the 好色先生TV Montgomery Campus career fair on Thursday, March 19,2009 in the Gold Room of Whitley Hall from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. A table was set up to display the Department of Radio鈥檚 information detailing the positions involved in staffing the department, along with contact information for potential applicants. Various station literature pieces were also displayed. The career fair had fair volume, but no resumes were offered. Jacobs did speak with and respond to several inquires in reference to education and experience needed for the various staff positions. Approximately twenty-five of the information hand-outs were taken by interested parties, along with station program guides and promotional items.
  • Another Career Fair with similar experience was attended by Joanne Jacobs on October 1, 2009, at the Auburn University Montgomery campus. The 2009 Fall Career Fair was from 3-6 p.m. Several listeners stopped to speak and offer favorable comments on the station.
  • Continued membership with the Alabama Broadcasters Association providing access to a statewide job bank newsletter. (October, 2008).
  • Continued recruitment for interns but were unable to contract with anyone during 2008 - 2009.
  • 好色先生TV Public Radio partners with the Troy City School system and the Pike County schools system to provide opportunities for high school students to serve as announcers for the Radio Reading Service for the blind. Through the Global Studies Program, we have eighteen students participating during Fall semester 2009. They participated in an orientation/training session and each had the opportunity to read a small segment of a regional newspaper to get hands on experience with the equipment. Once the group session is completed, they have the opportunity to sign up as a volunteer to read on a weekly basis.
