About the Mathematics Program at TROY

The Mathematics Program at 好色先生TV prepares students for exciting careers in mathematical, scientific, and technological fields, as well as preparing future teachers which is our historical role. With quality instruction and opportunities for individual growth and development, students majoring in mathematics at 好色先生TV are prepared for future careers, graduate study and life-long learning.

You鈥檒l find that within many of your math courses, you鈥檒l enjoy small class sizes鈥攁ll of which are taught by caring and dedicated faculty members. Through your coursework, you will continue to grow in your understanding of mathematics and have the opportunities to pursue the topics of study that appeal to you the most.

Whether you choose to join TROY鈥檚 Mathematics Club, work on a faculty-mentored project or give a presentation at TROY鈥檚 annual MathFest, the work and connections you make outside of the classroom will prepare you for your future career as a strong communicator and trustworthy mathematician. TROY also boasts its own chapter of the National Mathematics Honor Society known as Pi Mu Epsilon. Becoming a member of this prestigious organization will help build your resume. Moreover, as a member of Pi Mu Epsilon, you can receive opportunities to have paid travel expenses to the organization鈥檚 national summer conference where you can learn more about your field of study and network with other students and mathematics faculty from across the U.S.

Tailor Your Mathematics Degree with a Concentration

The curriculum in the mathematics program includes theoretical and applied courses that allow students to engage in mathematics through discovery, technology, faculty-mentored research projects, and application to real-world problems. 

TROY offers two concentrations within the mathematics program, so you are able to choose the concentration that aligns with your future goals, whether you want to pursue a career in mathematics or further study. You can choose from the following:

Faculty Profiles

Dr. Ken Roblee

Dr. Ken Roblee

Dr. Roblee received degrees from the University of Alabama (B.S.) and Auburn University (M.S., Ph.D.). His primary research area is Graph Theory. He enjoys mentoring student research projects, and advising the Mathematics Club and chapter of the national mathematics honor society. Dr. Roblee primarily teach mathematics major and minor courses.
Dr. Sergey Belyi

Dr. Sergey Belyi

Dr. Belyi received his PhD from the University of South Florida. His research lies in the fields of operator theory, functional analysis, and system theory. His current research project has applications in mathematical physics as well.

MathFest sparks new interests, creativity among participants

MathFest, held in John Robert Lewis Hall over the weekend, included various presentations exploring the applications of mathematics, competitions and a browse session.
