Organizational History: The Scottie Frasier Study Club began as the "Young Woman's Study Club" at a luncheon organized by Mrs. Scottie (Dr. Alfred) Frasier on Jan. 15, 1930. Mrs. Boo (Jim) Spann served as first president. In 1946, this club created a "daughter club" for younger women to which it passed along its name, the "Young Woman's Study Club." The older group then adopted the name "Scottie Frasier Study Club" in honor of its founder.
At a tea in the home of Mrs. William Evans April 5, 1968, the 1946 club passed the name "Young Woman's Literary Club" to a "granddaughter club," then renamed itself the Women's Literary Club.
On May 6, 1988, at a brunch hosted by Mrs. Charles Chapman, the 1968 club spawned a fourth generation of the Young Woman's Study Club. It then reconstituted itself as the "Joy Holman Study Club" in honor of a recently deceased (Joy Holman died on Aug. 13, 1987) charter member.
