Dr. Shirley J Farrell

Dr. Farrell is an Associate Professor in the Master of Science in Education program and the program coordinator for gifted education at TROY. She is also the co-coordinator for assessments for state and national reports and accreditation. Dr. Farrell has worked in gifted education for over 30 years as a gifted specialist, coordinator, state department specialist and university professor.

Already Have a Master's in Education? Learn About TROY's Post-Master's Program

TROY offers multiple ways to earn your gifted teacher certification according to your academic background. If you already hold a master's degree in education, you can enroll in TROY's post-master's gifted certification online program. 

With this option, you'll take six gifted education courses and any courses you may need to fill TROY's master's in education core requirements. After completing your coursework, you'll be eligible to take the Alabama Praxis for Gifted Education. Contact our program director for more details on the post-master's program.
