Summer Financial Aid Information
Students interested in applying for federal financial assistance for the summer semester (or Term 5) may complete the Summer Request Form after registering for summer courses. Financial aid for the summer is typically based on unused eligibility and remaining funding from the aid year. Students must also meet all components of the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy once Spring/Term 4 grades are posted.
Please note: Financial aid offers are initially processed for Fall and Spring semesters (Terms 1-4). Students must have a valid 2023-2024 FAFSA on file in order to be considered for Summer 2024 aid.
Students will not be automatically reviewed for federal loan eligibility upon Summer/Term 5 registration.
Parent and Graduate PLUS Loans will not be automatically offered during Summer Aid Application review.
Funds Availability
Pell Grant recipients who have not exhausted their annual limit in the Fall and Spring semesters may have remaining Pell Grant funds available for the Summer semester/Term 5.
Federal student loans are available to students who have not reached their annual and/or aggregate loan limits. Students must be enrolled at least half-time in program required courses. Half-time for semester disbursement pattern is 6 hours and half-time for term disbursement pattern is 3 hours.
Summer awards must be reviewed by the Office of Financial Aid, and in many circumstances, eligibility cannot be determined until spring grades have posted (for currently enrolled students). Therefore, your patience is requested while your application is processed. Applications will only be processed after you have registered for summer courses. An award notification or an update indicating you have no remaining eligibility will be emailed to your TROY email account once your application has been processed.
